Cyprus property sales up 46 per cent

Cyprus property sales up 46 per cent in November 2016 Cyprus property sales continued their upward trend in November 2016 with sales rising by 46 per cent compared to November 2015 according to official figures from the Department of Lands and Surveys.

November’s increase follows a 37% increase in October, a 50% increase in September, and a 50% increase in August.

Of those 651 contracts, 463 (71%) were deposited by domestic (Cypriot) purchasers, while 29% (188) were deposited by overseas (non-Cypriot) purchasers.

With the exception of Famagusta, where sales fell 42%, sales rose in all district compared with November 2015.

In percentage terms Limassol led the way with sales up 82%, followed by Famagusta, where sales rose by 74%.

Meanwhile, sales in Nicosia and Larnaca rose by 43% and 3% respectively.

During the first 11 months of 2016 property sales have risen 34% to reach 5,929 compared with 4,439 during the first 11 months of 2015.

Sales have increased in all districts. Sales in Limassol have risen 48% and by 28% in Famagusta, Nicosia and Paphos. Meanwhile, sales in Larnaca have risen by 24%

In 2017 sales are expected to increase as the island becomes more and more affluent and out of recession with unemployment falling and tourism increasing year on year. 2016 was a record year for tourism in Cyprus.

The construction of the Ayia Napa marina which is expected to cost around €220 million, is anticipated to start in early April according to an announcement by the mayor Yiannis Karousos.

CONSTRUCTION works for the new Ayia Napa marina are expected to start in the beginning of April, Mayor Yiannis Karousos announced on Monday.
“The process for the construction of the Ayia Napa marina is progressing according to existing schedules. Expressions of interest from companies was a great success after more than 30 companies showed interest,” the mayor stated, adding that 12 companies would be bidding in the end.
February 15 is the due date for submission of the tenders which will be evaluated, Karousos said.

“According to our calculations they will be expected to sign the relevant contracts in late March and in early April the work which is anticipated not only by Ayia Napa but indeed the whole of Cyprus will begin,” he added.
He said the companies would include bids from Cyprus and abroad.
The project also includes villas, apartments, restaurants, bars, shops, cafés and boutiques, as well as a square for holding events. The marina will be able to berth 600 vessels with a length of up to 60 metres and support work on minor repairs and servicing, he said.
During the construction of the marina, which is expected to last about three years, 800 jobs will be created with the majority of employees consisting of people of the region, while 350 people will be needed for the marina’s operation.
The vast complex is going to be built in the area between the Ayia Thekla chapel and Makronisos beach.

Throughout Cyprus property sales improving are greater for the third consecutive month throughout May having solid Cyprus property sales recorded in most districts in comparison with May 2013 results of the land & surveys departments.

 CYPRUS PROPERTY sales improving throughout May possibly recorded a strong expansion in comparison with May 2013 as outlined by results published through the Lands & Surveys department promoting trust that the Cyprus property residence market may be on the upturn.

Through May the Cyprus property sales improving increased an overall of 551 contracts for purchase of professional, non-commercial and residential houses and plots ended up deposited with Area land Registry offices in Cyprus;

A rise of 157% for the 214 contracts deposited through the similar time this past year.

Of 551 contracts 72% (398) ended up deposited for domestic consumers, whilst 28% (153) ended up deposited in favour of other country residents.

Sales in most districts built significantly in percentage phrases, Nicosia led this area having gross sales escalating by means of 388% to achieve 117 compared to what was sold throughout May 2013.

Sales throughout Famagusta went up 327% and gross sales throughout Limassol greater by 157%, whilst gross sales throughout Paphos and Larnaca were greater by means of 121% and 57% respectively.
